A black suede leather belt embellished with handcrafted sterling silver alternating X's and O's across the 35". Original leather with an added elastic to extend the length; which can be easily removed by a leather smith / cobbler. A photo of O'Keefe wearing this belt is shown on page 108 of "Silver Masters of Mexico".
Hector Aguilar (1905-1986) is one of the masters of mid-20th century Mexican jewelry. He began his jewelry career as manager for William Spratling’ workshop from 1937-1939. In 1939 he established his own workshop, the Taller Borda, in an 18th century building on the zocalo in Taxco, which remained open until 1962.
