Tone Vigeland (1938-2024) was a celebrated Norwegian jewelry designer and metal artist known for her avant-garde, sculptural work that blends minimalism with organic form. Born into a family deeply rooted in the arts, Tone created art pieces and jewelry throughout her career that cemented her as a pioneer in Nordic design.
Her designs and artwork range from sleek and simple to intricate and meticulously crafted, all imbued with her organic and earthy visual style. She lent her designs to Nordic Plus Designs, who produced much of her jewelry.
Over the decades, Vigeland’s pieces have been showcased in major museums and galleries worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. She has received numerous accolades, including the Jacob Award (awarded by Norsk Form) in 1965, the prestigious Prince Eugen Medal in 1988, and was decorated Commander of the Order of St. Olaf in 1996.
