Widely regarded as the Father of Modern Jewelry, Andrew Grima (1921-2007) revolutionized the craft with his innovative designs and rejection of traditional styles. A self-taught visionary, Grima began his career at H.J. Company, his father-in-law’s business, where he introduced organic and abstract forms that became his signature. His bold, artistic approach reshaped the landscape of jewelry design in the 20th century.
Grima is the only jeweler to have received the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh's Prize for Elegant Design. His works are featured in the collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, showcasing his enduring impact on the art of jewelry making.
Today, Grima’s legacy continues under the stewardship of his wife, Jojo, and daughter, Francesca. They uphold his tradition of excellence, producing just 20–30 pieces annually due to the high level of skill required by the few goldsmiths capable of crafting these extraordinary designs.
