Emil Borregaard was born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark, currently still living there. He is the second generation of fine metal smiths. His mother is a goldsmith and had been working for Georg Jenson for 25 years before she retired.

After graduating high school in 2007, he began his apprenticeship as a silversmith with Georg Jensen. IN February 2012, Borregaard passed the exam with the highest possible grade and appreciations. After his graduation he started working as a silversmith at the Georg Jensen silversmithy. Besides working for Georg Jensen, he also makes custom orders for clients, specializing in crafting and designing luxury goods made in precious metals, such as silver and gold.

Additionally, Borregaard was accepted into Alexandre, School for Optical Diamond Setting in 2016 and finished in 2017. Here he learned various styles of high-end diamond settings.

In the Autumn of 2017, he studied Nonume Zogan with Kazou Kashima in Tokyo. The Kashima family has developed, through five generations, a style of Nunome Zogan that works for soft metal, such as silver and gold.

Borregaard has received various prestigious awards for excellent work and understanding of silver as a medium, among others the very prestigious silver medal from the Copenhagen Association of Artisans, presented by the Queen of Denmark.
